Eid Deliciousness

Eid is such a special day. Filled with joy and happiness, and spent with family and loved ones! Of course we wanted to bake some yummy cupcakes for the occassion. Sharing with each other during Ramadaan is a great tradition here in Cape Town and it continues on Eid, with families and friends making special efforts to share their time and delicious eats with each other :)

Wedding!

Wedding wedding wedding...

My eldest brother's wedding was a lovely occassion on a beautiful day, Saturday 31 March. The happy couple wanted some special cupcakes as part of their wedding cake tower. We baked a moist chocolate cake for the top tier. Our aunt, talented and experienced baker that she is, decorated the beautiful top tier with white chocolate mousse, fresh white flowers and ribbon.

We baked red velvet cupcakes and decorated with cream cheese and pearls for the bottom 3 tiers. Big bro spotted these cupcake holders online and we looked high and low until we found them! They added a lovely touch and the whole ensemble was beautiful. We decided to use glass cake stands to make the tower that we needed and it seemed to work out well!

Office Party

We have stepped into the corporate world! What would an office party be without yummy eats?
The request:
Red Velvet topped with cream cheese and chocolate cupcakes filled with cappuccino mousse, topped with chocolate mousse and gold dust. Lucky office-workers :)

Freshly baked and decorated before dawn, these deliciously scrumptious cuppycakes have opened new doors for us!

Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty was the theme of a little girl's 2nd birthday party.. how cute!

The cupcakes were so colourfully cheerful and pretty, the expression on the little girl's face when she saw them was of pure delight!

 Thrown a little out of our element by being asked to make a 3 tier birthday cake covered and decorated in fondant, we grabbed the challenge by the horns and... 12+ hours later this is what we made:

Lots of lessons learnt whilst assembling this cake together, particularly working with fondant! Feeling as if we'd been hit for a 6, we were delighted when little Gadija stared at it in wonderment and awe and exclaimed to her dad... "Wow... can I pleeeease take it home?!"
Too cute!

One thing is for certain though, we realised how much we LOVE making cupcakes (^^;)

Happy 50th Birthday

Finally time to sit down and share more of what we have been making!

We are loving thinking of new ideas for our cupcakes... a dash or sprinkling of something adds that extra touch. With every batch of cupcakes we are improving on our baking and piping skills, which gives us such a sense of pride and love in every cuppycake that we make. The chocolate and cappuccino mousses are really good on the chocolate cupcake. The cappuccino mousse surprised me with its lovely taste, so we tried it as a filling with chocolate mousse as a topping.. and voila! Loveliness! A dash of gold dust adds the perfect touch:
